CROUP

So my little deary, your summer cold has turned into a barky seal cough virus known as CROUP. Yesterday morning when you woke up before 6 a.m. in a coughing fit I had a huntch that you have the C word so I took you to the doc to see if my huntch was correct and indeed it was. You haven't been too fussy or spiked a fever but you have had two little facets draining NON-STOP. The thing that helped you during the winter colds was the battery powered suctioner. I LOVE this gadget. It works great and helps clear you out fast. I mean really, with the bulb suctioner you do one suction and then have to stop to clean out the suctioner and re-suction the same dang nose. With this you just hold the button up to the nose and it sucks all the "snobbers" (as your grandma D calls them) in less time, minimizing the length of trauma caused to you. The other day I went to use it and the damn thing is broken. Your dad told me you were saying "it's a dream come true!" Your not a fan of mommy's gadget. I say mommy's gadget because your daddy won't touch it with a ten foot pole. He hates the sound it makes and I think he thinks I'm hurting you. Anyways, difference of opinion...I'm sure in your lifetime we will have many more differences of opinion to work through or split hairs on....:)
Oh ya so back on track...the doc gave you a steroid in which you HATE and quite frankly it's a hell of a time to get you to take this medicine. I really don't blame you kid because at the age of 28 I still have to plug my nose when I take liquid medicine and I realy try to avoid it at all costs. Last night though, I took some Nyquil (because I'm getting the adult version of croup-wooohoooo) and about passed out from the taste and that was with my nose plugged:) Good times!

Goods friends and 1/2 glasses of wine

So the big question these days is are you crawling? The answer is somewhat tricky...it first starts out with "no not really", followed by "well she scoots around on her bum and when she goes to crawl she gets on her hands and sticks her butt in the air and gets on her tippy toes." It's too freakin cute. I think it's amazing that in these past few weeks of standing on your tippy toes/hands you haven't figured out the simplicity in using your hands and knees to get where you want to go. Your quite content with your own style of getting around. I have a pretty good feeling that this will be one of MANY "doing things your own way."

This weekend we traveled to Nebraska...OF COURSE:) We attended my BFF Amy's bridal shower. (I will go in detail sometime about why at 28 I ALWAYS, i mean everytime I refer to her I use BFF:) Anways it was a great shower day. Good friends & glasses of wine:) Also this weekend her brother, Scotty, came in town from Colorado to do some readings from his new book "The No Where Cafe". I am so excited to read it! He also wrote the book "TOO HIGH ON THE ROOF TOP" which I will say is a great read. If you want to know more check out : scottpincsak.com

We also spent lots of time this weekend with your g-ma D & tias. Grandpa D was out of town for work so we missed him:( Well, despite having a summer cold you keep on being my little traveling trooper.

Powell Gardens

This past weekend your grandma and grandpa Wimmer came to KC to visit us. It was so nice to have them in town. We went out to eat, watched your daddy play soccer, and went to Powell Gardens. Powell Gardens was amazing and your grandma Cindy knew everything about every flower and plant there was. She kept telling us we could have clippings of all the plants we saw that we loved because she seems to have them all in her backyard:). She even has planted you your very own rose bush in her backyard. It's awesome that she is so talented in this area because quite frankly we have a lot to learn and she will be a great teacher for you in that area:) Her backyard was in the Lincoln Holmes and Gardens parade!! Oh ya and she has Koi fish, now thats pretty cool! Anyways, it was a hot day but we still enjoyed the gardens and you were a trooper like always. Here are some photos from the day. Water Baby

It's summertime and you have been enjoying the water in all different forms from lake water to the public swimming pool and lastly the good ol fashion backyard baby pool and splash pad. Your personality seems to be slow to warm up to new ideas. You are extremely focused and intense when presented with a new concept but you soon warm up to it and put on that to die for smile.

"Neeners"

This picture is a good dipiction of a side of you we like to call "neeners". This is the side of you that fusses when you don't get your way. For instance, you used to LOVE your changing table, in fact it seemed to be your favorite spot in the house...but now you tighten your neck, lift your head up and cuss like a sailor. I must say you are your parents child! You are a girl with your own mind:)

On the 4th while you and daddy were napping, me and your aunts and uncles (Shay, Kate, Jay, & Mikey) went out and shot guns. (a semi-automatic rifle & a hand gun) I know nothing about guns but to my suprise it was a really fun time. It was exciting to try and hit the target. Your aunt Shannon hit the explosive target on the first shot. She was titled Bonnie from Bonnie & Clyde:) Nothing like shooting some guns on Independence day:)

Summer Days

Harper dear,
You have had quite the adventures lately. Your aunties on your dad's side, (Kaylee, Dee-Dee, & their friend Nicole) came to KC to hang out with you for a whole week. We went to a nearby swimming pool one day while they were here. This was your first experience at a pool. At first you weren't too sure but once you warmed up, you were a happy Harper:)... You then went to Nebraska with mommy so I could attend my 10 year H.S. reunion. You stayed in Nebraska with your Grandma & Grandpa Dorsey (while mommy and daddy worked) to then go to the lake for the fourth of July holiday weekend where we then met up with you. We had a great 4th weekend which entailed boating, swimming, and watching fire works. I was a bit worried that you wouldn't be a fan of the loud noises that come along with fireworks, but you suprised me. The loud noises made you jump at times but you never cried. You simply looked around at the bright lights with those curious eyes. Grandpa D even bought you your own fireworks and lit them off for you. Well kid, I must say you have put some miles in the car seat and continue to be a great traveler. We are having such a blast this summer enjoying family and friends. We are also enjoying all the new things you are learning each and everyday. My favorite thing right now is you giving kisses which you do with your mouth wide open. It's too cute... Each day is a new day and I love you Harper Sage, each and everyday!
