You and daddy traveled to Sherman County Dam to visit the Dorsey side of the fam. You visited with your great grandma D, great aunt and uncle, second & third cousins. From the looks of it you had a great time. And of course your grandma Dorsey always loves to have you around. You will soon learn that she's one of your best playmates. I recently purchased this hat from etsy.com, one of my favorite shopping websites. I must say you look stylin in your new look and you don't even mind sportin it. You like to swirl your hair when you are tired or when you are eating from your bottle, so this makes it a bit difficult to do. Each day I am amazed at your beauty, your growth, and your little personality. We love you to the moon and back infinity times and are blessed to have you as our child.

Beantown (aka Boston:)

Some co-workers and I headed to the National Child Life Conference in Boston Memorial Day weekend. Pete and I presented on Saturday about sleep problems, sleep studies, and our role as Child Life Specialists in the sleep lab. We had a great trip and we were able to see some of Boston on our downtime. I only captured a few pictures and rest I will post later when they are given to me. Some highlights include going to Cheers, the Boston Commons, the subway, eating lobster, and having cocktails with friends:) We left Thursday and returned Sunday night. This was my longest time away from you. I missed you like crazy and was sooo excited to see you on Monday. While I was in Boston, you were visiting family in Nebraska with daddy.

Deanna Rose Farmstead

We had a family outing last Saturday to Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park, KS. What an amazing concept. It's free admissions with a land full of hands on activities for kiddos. There are butterfly gardens, food gardens, petting and feeding the goats, fishing on a lake (you rent the pools and this cute little lake is stocked with fish...kids were pulling out fish left and right), horse back riding, a theater, bobcats, eagles, birds, playgrounds, hayrack ride, tee-pees, and more. Apparently Deanna Rose was a police officer who died (not sure how) and her family put together this project and with the help of the city made it all possible. I can't get over how cool it is and that it is free. (you donate money if you can when you enter). Anyhow, it was such a fun outing for us. You love being out and about observing the world. p.s. We love Deanna Rose so much we are heading there in a little bit to hang out with Brennan on his first birthday today:) Also, FYI, our camera your dad got me for my birthday a year ago was stolen at momma's work:( therefore we are now working with old funky cameras that take not so hot pictures and some of the pictures have dates from 2004...it's 2009 baby!

Mother's Day weekend

Last week you caught a little cold and your nose was running like a facet. In hopes that you wouldn't get Brennan sick at the Lehmans house, your grandpa Dorsey came to watch you while your mommy and daddy worked. Its always a nice treat to have him around and je absolutely adores you so it seems he doesn't mind putting his life on hold to be around you....
I must say you are quite the traveler. You and your daddy then traveled this past weekend to Nebraska to visit family and friends. You are a pretty mellow little girl with a spunky personality. You are an easy travel companion and of course everyone loves to see you. You light up the room with your smiles, giggles, and facial expressions. Don't get me wrong there are times when you are little miss fuss bucket, like when you can't get something into your mouth, when you fight naps, or when it seems like your gums are bothering you. Those moments are few and far between. You and your daddy stayed with g-ma & pa Dorsey and visited lots of relatives on your dads side of the family. Mommy couldn't make the trip due to working ALL weekend:( From the report I recieved you were happy as can be hanging with everyone! I told grandma D that her mothers day present from me was to hang out with you. You even sat up on your own this weekend at her house! SHE LOVES YOU! I think secretly she wants to have you all the time:) Your dad came back to Kansas while you stayed an extra night and hung with your Auntie Shannon. Momma sure did miss you while you were away and I was eagerly waiting for your return. I now know how your dad feels when we leave him for a trip. Your Aunt Kate brought you back and she is hanging with us for a few days helping take care of you while your friends Christina & Brennan are in Cananda.

Going Going Back Back to Cali Cali

Since my last post a lot has happened in your life. You took your first plane ride to California to see mommy's friends. It was such a blast visiting all the folks and taking you to the ocean. You did AMAZING on the plane rides. We had some interesting adventures along the way when flying back to Kansas and you were better than me in handling yourself:) On the way home we had a connection in Houston. Due to weather we had to drop in Corpus Cristi where we were planted for about three hours or so. That day we started at 10am at John Wayne in Orange County and didn't make it to Houston until 11:30pm. That means (for me who is bad at math) that we were traveling for over 12 hours. CRAZYNESS!!! A lot of that time was stuck in the plane either in the air or on the runway. We were able to get out of the plane to "stretch" our legs, which really meant me figuring out the plan for missed connections and hotel arrangements. We finally got to Houston and went to get our bags but of course they were missing. We had to check with the baggage people and they informed us that the bags were already ready to fly out the next morning without us. The nice lady gave us some extra formula and diapers and then headed to catch the shuttle. We waited for over 30 minutes for the lovely shuttle to arrive and you were just sitting in the stroller taking it all in. We finally arrived at the hotel. I was the first one off the shuttle but the last in line to check into the hotel due to getting your stroller out of the back. It took about an hour and a half to make way to the front of the line. Can you believe no one let us in front of them?? I mean really, you are five months old and its now 2am. We waited patiently and when we got the front of the line, the guy at the counter tells me that the reservation that your Aunt Shannon made for us while we were in Corpus Cristi is not showing up in there system. At this point another shuttle load is behind me. I looked at the guy with exhaustion and a bit of frustration and told him to please just get us a room. At this point, WE NEEDED SLEEP. That next afternoon we finally arrived home, and I couldn't have been more happy to arrive in Kansas. Seriously, that day I loved Kansas. Your dad picked us up and was so happy to see us. He sure did miss us while we were gone and we missed him too:) I know I elaborated on the end of the trip because it was just simply crazy but really we had such a great visit. We saw all our Child Life friends....Antonia, Avery & Simon... I saw Jayme & Eric wed while you stayed with Antonia...we stayed with the ever so kind and generous Sherry and Gary...hung with Lori...had brunch with our dear friends Sara A. Johnston, Brogan, Steph, and Sharon... Will, Will Jr, & Latosha had us over for dinner....we saw some folks at Miller Children's Hospital.....and played with the lovely Dulce.
I miss California and am ever so grateful for the life long friendships I have made. I am so glad you were able to meet California because the people you met are truly diamonds in the ruff. Thanks everyone for loving us! We miss you already!
