Lake weekend with no water...

August 15th weekend we spent the weekend at the lake.  This was the first weekend we had been back since July 4th and since that time Nebraska has been in a drought. It was ever so apparent starting from the drive when witnessing the corn fields and their lack of nourshiment to the dried up lake that just a month before was full of water.  Sherman County Reservior is an irrigation lake, meaning the farmers pull from the water in the summer.  This year was crazy in that you couldn't use any of the boat ramps to get a boat on the water since the farmers had to use the water in attempts to save their crops.  Usually by the end of August the water level in our cove is low but you can use the public ramps.  This year not only was the cove empty but the entire lake is nearly dry.  It is a crazy site to see thats for sure.  This particular weekend Teaf had a buddy and his wife visit. 
(Ben & Julia).  We explored the lake and ahh'ed over the dried up lake.  Teaf had Ben gardening;) and we played with the girls.  We celebrated my dad's birthday and my parent's 35th anniversary.  We had smores and the traditional birthday cookie.  It was a good weekend despite the lack of water fun.
