We went from one adventure to the next. We arrived back in Lincoln on Sunday and decided to take out a my sister's, her boyfriend Jason's, my friend Kate's, and her boyfriend Mike's pontoon boat. (whew that was tricky to explain) The boat was put in the water at about 5pm and we were hoping to hang out and fish into the night. We had a nice picnic dinner on the boat and had just put our polls into the water when we noticed the weather getting kinda harry. We tuned into the local radio station and come to find out there was 70 mph winds and severe thunderstorm warnings out all around us with hail, lightning, rain, and such. We decided to head in and take cover until the storm passed. The boys tied the boat to the dock and we headed up to the cars. Well, as the wind picked up Teaf noticed the shade on the boat flapping around and thought we should tie it down as well as get the snacks to munch on during the storm. Jason and Mike decide to follow to help. Sure enough the winds go from 20mph to 70mph in a matter of seconds. The girls are sitting in the car watching our boyfriends in what seems like "the deadliest catch"( a reality tv show on Discovery that involves boats and scary storms where people sometimes die in the ocean) At this point, I was somewhat feeling anxious watching the guys try to stabalize the boat, pull down the awning, and make it back alive. My sister is suggesting that she goes down there to help and I'm like HELL no...I mean there was already a lot at stake...I tell her "you just want the thrill", she's like "yah." She opts out on that adventure and leaves it to the guys. Kate is wondering if she should move her car under a tree to avoid the hail from slamming into her car and leaving dents or if that would be more dangerous because the wind might just pull down the tree onto the car. Teaf finally returns to the car soaking wet with the tub of snacks in tow, and Jason and Mike make it to the nearby porta potty.
The storm soon passed...
